Old Stone House

Counting one’s chickens…

Simply put, the deal’s off… The buyers withdrew their offer. They spoke to our listing agent when they met to sign the release papers, and in the course of the conversation it became apparent that the home inspection didn’t matter – their finances had fallen apart. When asked if the counter-evidence against the home inspector’s report had made a difference they explained that they didn’t review it / it didn’t matter.

Back to square one…

This cloud does have a silver lining. First, the offer was withdrawn for financing reasons – which is a far more attractive explanation then a failed home inspection – potential buyers will not lose confidence. Second, the house inspection revealed some items that we should fix – very minor items, but items none the less. Finally, the house we are attempting to buy has had NO showings since our offer went in. There is a strong chance that we will be able to extend our offer due to a lack of interest, which in the end saves us money, and allows us to move later.

Off to the sunroom to fix the hole I made…

  2. That really sucks. But, at least you know now that the house really is tip-top so you shouldn’t have such a bad experience moving forward.
